Good2Great Character Development Curriculum
The primary goal of Good2Great Character Development Program is to install positive character into each of the scholars by assisting the schools with developing an all-inclusive character support system. A system supported with behavioral development, leadership workshops, activity support, conflict resolution, interventions, and transitional solutions.
Overall Objectives:
In partnership with the principal and building leadership:
Behavior:
Good2Great will help improve behaviors by building discipline, through creating structure, great character, the use of Social and emotional learning, physical development, and bully prevention and understanding. We will actively work on “Peer Mediation” as a unique opportunity to be encouraged for scholars/building officials to use promoting effective communication and problem-solving skills in reallife settings.
The outcomes of the peer mediation programs are to:
• create a safe and welcoming school/community environment
• improve interpersonal and inter-group relations
• Teach sportsmanship
• Community awareness
• assist in reducing school/ community conflicts and violence, especially when part of a Success plan.
We also provide Success plan. Our goal is to show the youth the importance of planning. Challenging scholars to step out of their personal comfort zone by teaching our youth to reach high and dream big to achieve their full potential and plan for it. By using our Success plans, they will not only be empowered to work through their own problems; they will also become proactive leaders in helping others work through conflicts, staying focus, having an effect plan and accomplish goals as well. The Success plan aim to increase:
• Perspective taking
• Critical thinking skills
• Behavioral management
• Goal setting
• Cooperation
• Assertiveness
• Communication skills
Good2Great Intervention
• Our key strategy is to limit the number of negative student/student/principal visits and suspensions in the building, by establishing an exciting and positive culture with the mentoring programing with the group of scholars involved in the program to help inspire the at-risk scholars to get their academic achievement on the right track to want to become involved in the mentor program. All scholars will go through a success plan process at the beginning of the program and will get evaluated at the end of program to monitor student progression.
Transition/mentor Programs:
• The transitional program is her to help assist young scholar to be prepared with each changeling. This is a transition program that leverages the potential leadership skills
of older high school students to provide instruction and facilitation to groups in the ninth grade, a grade during which the critical transition from middle to high school takes place and academic achievement and social adjustment take place. As a mentor it is our job to make sure the next generation is prepared to be successful in the next phase of their life. We are here to assist and guide our student in making the right decision on off the field.
Social Emotional learning for the act risk youth:
• Good2Great Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) gives students the tools to excel in and out of the classroom. Our easy-to-teach program gathers outstanding reviews from many educators who have noticed improvement and seen even the most challenging students make progress in emotion management, situational awareness, and academic achievement. We live in communities where no day is promise, kids are dying younger and going to jail at high rates. We want to work hand 2 hand with the school district to help and stop this current program that has a strong hold on our youth.
Leadership 101 course:
• This is a course that was created to help bring awareness to different issues that teens might be dealing with in everyday life, but they do not have the opportunity to discuss it in the everyday classroom setting. We want to make the students feel comfortable discussing variety of different topics amongst their peers and coming up with solutions to problems. The goal is to raise the next generation of leaders to help change the culture.
